It blooms quietly at night, releasing a fragrance of extraordinary intensity, only to surrender its blossoms to the earth by morning. There is something deeply poetic about a flower that gives its most beautiful hours to the darkness. But what fascinates me as a perfumer is not merely its fleeting existence. It is the extraordinary contradiction within its scent.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eParijat is not the delicate, innocent floral that its appearance might suggest. Beneath its soft, creamy petals lives an almost narcotic intensity. It is rich, indolic, slightly humid, and astonishingly sensual. There is a certain warmth to its fragrance that reminds me of human skin. Not the freshly washed, perfumed kind, but the natural warmth of skin that has been carrying a beautiful floral scent for hours. This is precisely the character I wanted to preserve.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhen I began working on this attar, I had absolutely no intention of creating another floral composition. I wanted Parijat to speak for itself, without an elaborate arrangement of supporting flowers or unnecessary embellishments. The challenge was not to make the flower more beautiful. Nature had already accomplished that. My challenge was to capture its intensity without allowing that intensity to become overwhelming.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis is where my aged civet accord enters the composition.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDeveloped and matured in-house over years, this animalic accord has a particular softness that younger, more aggressive interpretations often lack. I have used it not to announce its presence, but to create a shadow beneath the Parijat. It introduces an intimate warmth, an almost living quality, allowing the flower to feel as though it is blooming against warm skin rather than sitting inside a bottle. The civet remains deliberately restrained. You may not immediately recognise it, but you would certainly notice its absence.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe entire attar came together in a single, uninterrupted blending session. Sometimes a composition demands months of revisions, and sometimes years of familiarity with your materials allow you to recognise the precise moment when everything falls into place. Parijat was one of those rare experiences. I knew what I wanted from the flower, understood the behaviour of my animalic base, and resisted the temptation to complicate something that was already complete.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat emerges is an unapologetically intense floral attar. The opening is a dense expression of Parijat, creamy and almost intoxicating, with its unmistakable indolic character. As it settles, the floral richness gradually becomes warmer, softer and more intimate. The aged civet accord begins to reveal itself, not as a separate note, but as a natural extension of the flower's sensuality. The boundary between the floral and the animalic slowly disappears.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI do not consider Parijat a universally pleasing fragrance, and I have made no attempt to turn it into one. It carries the imperfections, intensity and strange beauty that make natural floral materials so fascinating to me. Those accustomed to clean, transparent jasmine fragrances may find it surprisingly provocative.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBut for someone who has stood beneath a flowering Parijat tree in the stillness of the night, surrounded by that almost overwhelming fragrance, there is something deeply familiar here.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eParijat is my attempt to preserve those few extraordinary hours between a flower's blooming and its farewell.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNot a bouquet. Nothing about the fragrance itself has changed. The formulation, the ingredients, the concentration, and most importantly, the precious liquid inside the bottle remain exactly the same.
